Charlie Sloth has been on a road-trip to find the hottest rappers up North and try to understand why rap music in the U.K is dominated by the London scene. He's travelled from Newcastle to Liverpool, Manchester to Sheffield, Huddersfield to Leeds - spent time in boxing gyms with aspiring MC's, and met feared battle-rappers working the night-shift in Morrisons. From rap to grime to bassline to house; this is the story of the MC scene in the North of England right now.

The Crates featured heavily with a whole host of the cream of the North East, so dont miss this one!

We have a quick chat to Triple B & Barrabus before they kick it off in style with a special Christmas message. Jezza nails it in the highly anticipated live performance of Clique. Big shout to NEGRIEF.TV for some footage at the start; nice one.
Big Shout to Charlie Mac for the beats on this cypher. We jump in first with a freestyle from Alex G followed by a written from Rex Regis. Triple B treats us to bars so fresh the ink hadn't even dried yet. Barrabus takes over with a truly outstanding effort on the mic; landing firmly on the radar. Smooth Jezza show's why he's setting the standard in the North East at the minute. Finally Rex steps back up, ducks the duck, and nails it!

Seek & Morgz braved the Baltic conditions at the time and traveled up from Burnley to Newcastle to perform the set, which was well appreciated; salute. There are a couple of jumps in the video due the audio coming from the Mixlr feed (internet lagging) but it doesn't take anything away from how good it was. Enjoy.

As we continue rounding off 2012 in style we bring you another up & coming Newcastle crew climbing the ranks in the scene; The Militantz.

In between their battle rap at Get Slatted and joining up with the North East collective for the Newcastle city center cypher, Sprungy & Pamflit took time out to do an impromptu set for us. Some of their freestyles were the funniest we've ever had on the show.; without a shadow of a doubt. If this doesn't raise a wry smile nothing will. Huge props to The Militantz crew for supplying the ground level footage at the start.
